Join me at the McGuffey Art Center Starnes classroom to learn basic botanical art watercolor skills. We will start with learning brush control, washes, and monochromatic painting. Then, we will move onto color mixing and composition so that you can create your own watercolor painting.

Classes will meet on Thursdays from 10-12 am.

Here are the basic supplies for the class. I will supply the paints.

In case you are curious, I use a limited palette of: Ultramarine blue, Prussian Blue, Alizarin Crimson, Scarlet Red, Lemon yellow, Indian Yellow, Sepia brown.

Supplies: 

Fabriano artistico HOT press paper (traditional or bright white), 300 lb. Arches or Saunders are good options, we can cut large pieces down in the class.

Round watercolor brushes size 2, 3/0 (kolinsky sable are best) Winsor Newton series 7 Raphael Kolinsky #8408 are great brands) 

water dish/jar (a small short jelly jar works fine)

watercolor palette I recommend a flat white ceramic dinner plate, seriously, please NO plastic!

kneaded eraser

tracing paper (roll or pad)

HB pencil

a portable desk light
